    Jaw = On floor
My only concern, what happened to the lovely bare aluminium? Is that still an option?

  2. naoya says:

i must agree with j616. what happened to the alminum housing.

i can’t be sure from one picture, but it looks resin molded + spray painted. otherwise stainless steel + electrodeposited spray paint?

i can’t be at NAMM to see this, so i wait others (my co-dreamers) to see and their report.

anyhow, i love the concept, size, functions and it looks! so bring it on! i’ll purchase one for sure!

uh.. i’ll be more than happy to be chosen as beta tester ;-)

  3. Rob says:

When are you coming to London? I have about 500,000 friends wanting to see this ! (and myself, of course…)

  4. David says:

    Hi!

Don’t worry, the housing is still aluminum!

  5. Allerian says:

So, what’s the circuit board sticking out of the top all about?

  6. David says:

Allerian, the green PCB is our “debug board” used when programming the device during development.

  7. actuel says:

and what about the sound? oh wait, that’s not important. lol.

  8. Mr FD says:

    Fint som snus.

  9. j616 says:

Thanks David ^-^ Great to hear. Not sure if I’m asking to much here but how much can we expect to be released at NAMM? A date? A price? Your die hard followers here have been on the edge of their seats for months. Can we expect to have our questions answered? Absolutely in love with this product already and can’t wait to have my hands on it ^-^

  10. possan says:

hur fattig behöver man bli efter en sån där då tro…

  11. Jack Deckard says:

Very nice. I gotta ask about the build quality, as pretty much every encoder in every piece of music equipment I’ve bought in the last 3 years goes bad in about a year. Hope you’re using quality parts! Will be monitoring the media for more info.

  12. Fred says:

Skit samma vad den kostar! Jag vill ha den!

  13. David says:

most encoder brands have 50-100.000 revolutions
we have choosen a type that promise 1,000,000 revolutions min

  14. Allerian says:

Looking forward to 1,000,000 revolutions on my own OP-1!

  15. Alex Chopelas says:

Awww… I thought for sure you would have moved the keyboard so it began with C.

Whatever, I still want one really badly!!!!!

  17. CUCKOO says:

I think, in the (hopefully near) future, I will be playing concerts with OP-1 as my mother brain on stage. This is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. And the sounds are totally alien!! When other developers are just nerding with the same shit you guys think different. All respect from CUCKOO! Good luck on Winter-NAMM. Prepare well! You will be king of the show whether you just let the OP-1 lie on a table, or if you prepare a full blown show.

  18. firestARTer says:

Peoplez!!! Goood luck for the Namm show. As i still think the op-1 was my most impressive gear from the last Frankfurt Musikmesse and i am sure it would be for the Namm aswell if i could be there.

  19. Malaventura says:

I love the concept of this machine, the size, the look, the functions added. Just want to ask you something guys. It would be perfect to see a video manipulating the OP-1. I saw the videos on the Namm and your older one with the OLED screen, but for me is still confusing how the unit is programmed to make patterns and songs. Please make a proper demo video of this tiny and wonderful synth.
    Best regards from Spain.

  20. Svetlana Jolkina says:

    OMG…….. I zwil wzit you in LA!!!1!!

  21. David says:

    we will do this!

  22. PerOddvar says:

Waiting, waiting, hoping, waiting some more…
Norway is not far, you know.. And we have a hard winter to test this in =)

  23. Clearscreen says:

Wish I could check it out at NAMM… It’s a long way’s from Orstralia!! Looking forward to some video demo’s as well. I’m not sure if you’ve already answered this Q but can you have a midi out plug directly from the unit (maybe via an adapter?) or is it only over USB?

  24. possan says:

öppna ett showroom på söder vettja :)

  25. jesper says:

We will post a vid as soon as we get back from NAMM. And big thanks for all positive feedback so far. It means a lot.

  26. n/a says:

Thanks for the vid news Jesper, I can’t wait to see it! Also, TE team, have a great time at NAMM. I was wondering, would it be possible to let us eager buyers know what the price will be for the OP-1 and when it will be available for purchase? And also, when the OP-1 is purchased, what comes with it? If you are unable to release any of this info at the present time, will it be revealed at NAMM then?

  27. Allerian says:

On the OP-1, can I set an LFO to affect the AM/FM tuner frequency? :D

  28. naoya says:

    to people at TE<
i am not sure if anyone has asked before, but are you planning to hold any of TE OP-1 composition contest of kind?

  29. [...] I’ve been looking forward to talking to Teenage Engineering about their gorgeous-looking, Casio-inspired, FM radio and FM synthesis-equipped OP-1 synthesizer for months now; NAMM had always been the timeframe. Whatever isn’t ready, I should be able to catch when I’m in Stockholm in February. I’m imagining their studio looks something like the Wonka Chocolate Factory. If you’re there, you can find them on the floor. [...]

  31. michael moog says:

where’s the pitch wheel damn it!!!

  32. David says:

we will build one for you michael. you just have to wait :)

  33. I am totally looking forward to this for a long time. good luck with the development!

  34. maze says:

    …I’ll never spend 1000$ for a toy.

  35. corn says:

looks amazing!! seems to function as good as it looks… Now just cant wait to hear it! I hope it sounds as good as it looks.. however, the functionality of the sampler and having it as a compact midi device/sequencer still makes this an amazing tool, even without the synth functionality.
my one comment.. where’s the pitch wheel? even a touch sensitive slider? just something other than a knob that can reset to the centre position for performance use.

  36. This is one the most innovative, creative new music devices I’ve seen in a looooong time. The looks, functions, portability. I will buy one for sure. FANTASTIC. And keep the colors they are clear and funky!
